Creating human-centered content in a virtual landscape
Create an inspiring video introducing Paralympian Breanna Clark to Church Mutual customers — all while producing around an athlete’s busy training schedule.
Our clients have sent us all over the country and introduced us to some really interesting people over the years; but until this project, we hadn’t worked with any gold medalists (that we know of!). When longtime Upswing client Church Mutual Insurance began sponsoring Paralympic sprinter and gold medalist Breanna Clark, we were tasked to produce a video all about Breanna’s courageous and bold spirit that would inspire Church Mutual’s customers and build excitement leading up to her races.
We began our virtual discovery process getting to know Breanna and her coach Rosalyn (who’s also Breanna’s mom and a 1975 Olympic silver medalist in the 4 x 400 relay). As we talked to Breanna, we imagined a scrapbook-style animated video that emphasized how her inspiring values lined up with Church Mutual’s purpose: Elevating the human condition. We swapped traditional b-roll for old family photos, selfie videos, and images of Breanna’s races to create the overall look.
We also wanted Breanna’s competitive spirit and generosity to show through, so we worked examples and anecdotes from our discovery calls into the script and incorporated sound design and colorful animations. The result was a cheerful, inspiring video that told Breanna’s story in a way that would captivate and uplift Church Mutual’s customers while upholding its purpose-driven brand messaging.
