Creating high-style branding with low-maintenance backend

We created branding and a website for the Chamber of Commerce’s MNimize program.

The Challenge

Use a combination of new branding and existing client logo designs to create a website that the client could manage on the backend.


The Minnesota Waste Wise Foundation provides support to local businesses looking to reduce their carbon footprints. In 2022, the Foundation rolled out MNimize, a sustainability program that recognizes and assists businesses that take steps to reduce single-use plastic in their operations. The Foundation asked us to create a brand story and an easy-to-manage website for the program, using a combination of existing design elements from the Foundation and Upswing’s creative expertise.

Our work

We got to work creating a brand story that looked modern, stylized, and unique, all while ensuring the website itself would be easy to manage. Additionally, we needed to incorporate an existing MNimize logo as a base for the campaign. Instead of viewing these caveats as confining, we used them to further inspire our creative. How could we use color, font, and stock photography to bring the MNimize brand to life? What website elements would be easy for a client without WordPress experience to manage? The result was a bright brand story and website that came to life with a modern color palette, inspirational visuals, and custom graphics and animation that the client could adjust and tailor as needed.
