Our clients have sent us all over the country and introduced us to some really interesting people over the years; but until now, we hadn’t worked with any gold medalists (that we know of!).
That all changed when Church Mutual Insurance began sponsoring Paralympic sprinter Breanna Clark
Breanna won a gold medal in the 400m T20 at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio and is preparing to defend her title at the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo. Because she embodies one of their core values — being courageous and bold — Church Mutual Insurance thought she was a perfect choice for sponsorship.
Church Mutual asked us to create a quick one-minute video introducing Breanna to their employees and customers and generating excitement for her runs in late August. The only problem was we didn’t have much time and COVID restrictions ruled out traveling to Los Angeles to shoot footage.
As always, we started with discovery, spending time getting (via video call) getting to know Breanna and her coach Rosalyn (who’s also her mom and a 1975 Olympic silver medalist in the 4 x 400 meter relay). As we learned more about Breanna’s playful personality, we landed on a scrapbook-based animation. The Clark family scoured through old photos and snapped some new ones while we created the overall look.
We also wanted Breanna’s competitive spirit and generosity to show through, so we worked examples and anecdotes from our discovery calls into the script — voiced by the talented Kenita Hill — then mixed in sound design and colorful animations.
Learn more about Breanna by watching the video above and cheer her during her round one heats on Monday, August 30th, 2021! If you want a gold medal video, send us a note!
